Installing the fan

I just cut a huge hole in the roof of the van! Scary. It was actually a lot easier than installing the ladder though. I traced out a 14″x14″ square, drilled two pilot holes, and made the cut using a jigsaw. Done.

There are basically two main options for an RV fan. You either get the Fan-tastic or the MaxxAir. I opted for the MaxxAir, primarily because it’s supposed to work in the rain. But also a little bit because my name is Max. There’s a great installation video on YouTube that I followed. I love the YouTubes!

I'm a traveling rock climber, kiteboarder, and firmware engineer. Although I'm currently living in LA, I'm originally from Boston. After a year of roaming around North America in my Sprinter van, I decided to hunker down on the west coast for a while.

At the moment I'm working at a small startup near downtown LA, where I get to code all day and kite and climb the rest of the time. No complaints really. Github repos
